4 Day Disney World Itinerary with Kids: What First Timers MUST see and do

Since my family recently got back from our first family vacation to Disney World I've been writing on all the tips and tricks I learned along the way -- you did read my Top 10 Tips for a First Time Disney World vacation didn't you? One of the best things I did for my family, was not only plan ahead, but make an actually itinerary.   
My kids were 4 and 20 months when we went in early February 2013 and this 4 day Disney World Itinerary worked out perfectly.  I've highlighted our family's daily highlight in green.
First Day: Magic Kingdom
** = MUST DO
Hours: 9am – 10:00pm  (check hours specific for your tour dates)
Leave hotel:  8:15
FIRST THING TO DO: Get FASTPASS for Winnie the Pooh (send one person -- DAD -- with all the tickets to get all the FastPasses, that way you're not all trekking across the park to get them).
·      Dumbo - FP
·      Peter Pan Flight
·      Seven Dwarfs
·      **Winnie the Pooh - FP
·      Country Bear Jamboree
·      Unspecified Counter Service Lunch  11:30 (we ended up eating at Liberty Tree Tavern)
·      Return to hotel by 12:30 pm for naps (click to read why this is soooo important)
·      Depart hotel for Magic Kingdom by 3pm
·      DINNER: 4:15 Cinderalla’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom CONFIRMATION #: xxxx

·      Carousel
·      Small World -
·      7pm: Main Street Electrical Parade Main Street, U.S.A., Liberty Square, Frontierland
·      **8pm: Wishes Nighttime Spectacular -Magic Kingdom Theme Park, Main Street, U.S.A.

For Day 2...

Day 2: Disney’s Hollywood Studios  
(TIP: When we went the Disney Jr. Playhouse was closed for renovations, but I would definitely recommend this based on reviews.  It is now reopen)
Hours: 9 am – 7 pm
Leave hotel by:  8:15
·      **Voyage of Little Mermaid
·      **Beauty and the Beast Live -11:45 (arrive 30 mins early, show is 25 mins long)
·      Toy Story Mania
·      Quick service/Counter LUNCH 11:30 at Backlot Express
·      Return to hotel for naps
o   (3pm optional: Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun! Parade) 
·      Leave hotel by 3:30 to return to park
.    Car Stunt Show

·      **DINNER: 4:50 Hollywood & Vine, party of 6 (CONFIRMATION: xxx)

·      **Fantasimic: Arrive no later than 6:30 for 7pm show (use Fantasmic Dinner VIP vouchers for VIP section)

Day 3: Magic Kingdom
Hours: 9am-8pm
Leave hotel by 8:15
FIRST THING TO DO: Get FastPass for Storytime with Belle
·      Speedway
·      **Enchanted Tales with Belle
·      **Buzz Light Year – FP (if more than 30 mins)
·      **Monsters Inc Laugh floor
·      **Dream along with Mickey show (10:35AM, 11:40AM , 4:15PM, 5:15PM )
·      **Under the Sea, Journey of the Little Mermaid - FP
·      LUNCH:  Be Our Guest – (COUNTER SERVICE) -- (TIP: after doing this, I would not recommend it n 2013...they have a lot of kinks to work out at this brand new restaurant)
·      Return to hotel for naps (may not be possible for Olivia)
·      3pm Olivia appt Bippity Boppity Boutique (bring your own brush)
·      Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride
·      (OPTIONAL): 5:40 – Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Parade
·      DINNER: 7:10 Chef Mickey’s at Cosmpolitan (take monorail from MK entrance)

Day 4: EPCOT (suggested order)
FIRST THING: Get FP for Soarin’
·      **Soarin (This was my 4 year old daughter's favorite ride -height requirement is 40") – FP
·      **Living with the Land - FP
·      **Seas with Nemo and Friends (ride)
·      **Turtle Talk with Crush (CHECK TIMES)
·      The Seas (aquarium)
·      Spaceship Earth
·      Universe of Energy (scary at parts)
·      LUNCH – Sunshine Seasons  
·      Return to hotel for NAPs


·      (Test Track)
·      (Tour the Nations)
·      Leave hotel by 3:45 for Dinner
·      DINNER:  5:15pm San Angel Inn in Mexico Pavilion confirmation: #xxxx (table service)
·      **Illuminations 9pm – (try to stand between Canada and France)

Day 5 (departure day): Wondering what to do with a half day in Disney that you can't go to the parks? Here's what I found:
·      Tour the Animal Kingdom Lodge and check out savannah viewing areas (must go to park first and transfer busses)
·      Play mini golf (coupon in coupon book)
·      Swim in the pool or play on resort playground if it's warm enough
